The present book "Studies in Hindu Materialism" is a refreshing one, specially since it is written Enghish by an Andhra scholar.  The present volume consists of
1. Some hindu Materialists.
2. Kapila - An introductions of Early Sankhya Philosophy.
3. Post Upanishadic Materilist thinkers.
4.Materialist Aspects of Bhagavadgita.
5. Materialist Aspectos of Prabodha Chandrodaya, and a short article on
6. Vemana - the Telugu Poet and Reformer.
For those who have already gone through the books of Rahul Sankrityayan, Debi Prasad Chattopadhyaya and others, the topics treated in this volume may apperar to be too familiar.  Nevertheless, for such a reserach work written more than sixty years bac, it is highly original.  At every stage, the creative thinker in Dr. Krishna, catches the attention of the reader.
The other chapters of the book, on Sankhya, Prabodha Chandrodaya and Bhagavadgita are highly illuminating.  On Gita, Dr.Krishna says, if properly interpreted, Gita can still serve the needs of the modern man.  It is highly original idea.
