Rabindranath Tagore was the First Indian Recepient of the world's greatest award, the NOBEL PRIZE for Literature to his book GEETANJALi. He was born on 7th May 1861 at Jora Sanko in Calcutta. His father was Devendranath Tagore reverently known as Maharshi and his mother was Sarada Devi. Rabindranath was affectionately known as RABI.
